I did some digging and discovered why Alisha Newton didn’t film any scenes for Heartland Season 17—and it turns out she won’t be returning for Season 18 either. Here’s the scoop…
What really frustrates me about her reduced role on Heartland is that we lost Ty in the Season 14 premiere, and shortly after, Georgie’s presence as a main character diminished. It felt like the show lost two crucial characters in quick succession. Although it was great to see Georgie return at the end of Season 16, it wasn’t quite the same, and her absence in Season 17 was a letdown. I’m hopeful that we might see her make an appearance in the upcoming season.
Georgie was mentioned in Season 17, Episode 3 when Amy talked about her niece participating in an event on horseback. With the strike now over and both shows having their episodes scheduled—one starting in the spring and the other in the summer—there’s a chance Georgie could make a comeback to Heartland later on.
