Heartland

Graham Wardle explains why Ty died in Heartland and why he’s back in season 18

Absolutely, Ty needs to make a return to Heartland! The show holds so much potential for compelling new storylines as Ty and Amy embark on their new chapter together, settling into their home and raising their beautiful daughter, Lyndy. The current direction of Heartland feels like it’s lost its way, drifting into soap opera territory with a focus on finding a new romantic partner for Amy. For dedicated fans, it’s incredibly disheartening to see Amy with someone else. The heart of the series was always about Ty and Amy’s journey and their family, and it would be wonderful to see them front and center, navigating life together rather than getting caught up in soap-style melodrama.

Ty’s presence was integral to the show’s charm and appeal. After Season 13, which was challenging to watch without Ty, the series lost much of its vibrancy. Ty (played by G.W.) brought humor, adventure, and fresh challenges to the show, elements that are sorely missed. The current dynamics between George and Quim lack the chemistry that Ty and Amy shared, and seeing Amy with another partner diminishes the show’s original magic. Many fans had hoped Ty and Amy’s story would evolve to replace Jack and Lisa’s legacy, making the current direction all the more disappointing.

If G.W. were to return as Ty Borden, it would rekindle the magic of Heartland and bring back the engaging storytelling that made the show great. For those of us who fell in love with the series and its original charm, Ty’s return would be a welcome development, and we would eagerly tune back in to see the beloved characters reunited.
