“I think everyone’s pretty damn proud of what we put together.”
NCIS star Brian Dietzen has promised huge twists in the season 21 finale.
The show is fresh off celebrating the 1,000th episode of the NCIS franchise this week, which included a crossover event with NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS: Los Angeles.
Now, the focus turns towards the upcoming season finale ‘Reef Madness’ on May 6, capping off a shortened 10-episode season due to the acting and writing strike last year.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Brian — who plays chief medical examiner Dr. Jimmy Palmer — has promised the final episode will leave fans breathless.
“As per usual with NCIS, it’s gonna leave a lot of people with their mouths wide open after the credits start to roll,” Dietzen promised. “I think everyone’s pretty damn proud of what we put together.”
The actor also assured fans that there are still some huge moments to come ahead of the finale, even with a shortened season.
“There’s plenty in store there,” he said. “It’s only a 10-episode season, right? It just kind of feels like each of our writers kind of only gets one at-bat, and they’re really swinging for the fences, and they are not disappointing.
“One that’s coming up pretty soon here highlights Gary Cole’s character Parker in a way that, to me, is some of the funniest stuff I’ve seen in a long, long time on the show, just situationally funny. Having read it, I can’t wait to see what Gary does with the material.”
Fans can expect more NCIS on the way, as the show was recently renewed for a 22nd season to air this autumn.

There are two new spin-offs in the works as well: a prequel about Leroy Gibbs that will be narrated by Mark Harmon and a contemporary show reuniting Ziva David and Tony DiNozzo.
